The 1967 model was produced with several engine options. The standard engine was the 289 cu in V8 with 200 hp. The GT's engine was 390 cu in (6,391 cc), but was quoted with 15 fewer horses at 320 hp. The A part of the GTA denoted an automatic transmission.
